Located at the center of down of Jeju city, Designated as the national treasure No. 322 In 1448, during the reign of King Sejong, Jeju minister Shin Suckcheong constructed this building in order to train soldiers and build martial spirit. The framed calligraphy is known as done by prince Angyeong of Joseon Dynasty.

Opened in June, 2001, Jeju National Museum displays 950 pieces out of 7,230 collections year round. In the Exhibition room 1 of prehistoric age and archeology are 250 pieces of paleolithic and neolitic artcraft excavated at Gosan ri which shows the lives of the first inhabitants of jeju, the birth of villages, and trades.
Tamna rooms (Exhibitions room 2, 3 and 4) show the birth and development of Tamna culture. Lives of Tamna in Goyreo dynasty, remains from the shell mound in Gwakji-ri, desecration of a tomb in Yongdam dong, lefts of Beophwasa, and old maps of Tamna.
In room 5, the room of Joseon dynasty shows how Jeju Mok was established and operated, studies on Jeju, cultural development as a place of exile, lives of Jeju as an island, rendezvous of the east and the west through artcraft excavated at the Jeju mok administration building site. Room 6 is decorated with about 50 donations from Ms. Kim Sunee such as potteries, wooden furniture, costumes. There is a special exhibition room and outside the museum are sculptures such as dongjaseok and milestones which are allowed for visitors to touch so that they may notice the stone culture of Jeju.

Designated as the National Heritage Number 134, Samseonghyeol has been said to be the birth place of legendary founders of Tamna, Goh Eulla, Yang Eulla, and Buh Eulla. There remain three holes known as the spots these three founders came out. At the site of around 21,000 Square meters of luxuriant forest, there is Samseongjeon, Bunhyangso (a place for offering incense), Jeonsacheong, and Sungbodang (a memorial hall for Confuncianist services to honor distinguished scholars and statesmen) surrounding these three holes. The holes are forming triangular shape together and do not get wet by rain drops and snow. One of the holes runs through the ocean.

On the seashore of Yongamdong in Jeju city, Yongdam rises high as if it might suddenly take off and fly into the sky. That it resembles a dragon with its mouth open ready to roar is the reason why it is called Yongduam.

According to legend, a dragon envoy of the dragon king was sent to Mt. Halla to pick a herb which would give eternal youth. But a mountain god shut into the sea, and only the head protruded above the sea. And it became Yongduam. According to another legend, once upon a time, a dragon spirit of a mountain in his mouth. The guardian spirit was angered, and shout the dragon who fell into the sea leaving only his head above water. The shape of the head is like that of a wailing dragon.

Entering the gate, you might find people gathered by two or three posing for pictures under the roof of the museum made imitating the thatched roof of Jeju house. When you step into the museum building, you might see a big marine life at the center and natural history exhibition room is on your left where the formation of Jeju island and flora and fauna of Jeju is on display. At there, you can almost hear the breath of Jeju people of the past as it has a collection of relics and displays that show the life-style of Jeju. In addition, you may find out the people of Jeju who have managed their lives through hardship on the infertile and wild climate.
